Be a Moon

"But we Christians have no veil over our faces; we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him." 2 Corinthians 3:18 TLB

While watching a photographer on a photo-shoot, I was amazed at how much light she could harness by using a reflector. By just having her assistant hold a foil disc near her model, she was able to direct the limited sunlight exactly where she wanted it. The model's face glowed. This got me thinking, having no light-source itself, the moon reflects the light of sun onto earth, giving a little sliver of light or a bright full light depending on it's physical relation to the sun. So too, I, having no light-source myself, reflect the Son of God with either a sparse sliver or full brightness, depending on my relationship to Jesus, the Son.

Each of us, having been created in the image of God, will reflect his character to some extent. As Christians, we know Jesus and have access to the Holy Spirit who can place us in just the right spot to brightly reflect Jesus to the world. As the Holy Spirit moves us, the world sees less of our human nature and more of the light of Jesus: holiness, love, truth, compassion and faithfulness. Jesus is perfect, I am not. I can only be a flawed reflection of who he is, but I can reflect enough light so others will see him even in the darkness.

Lift the veil, see Jesus full on for who he is, and be a moon! Be a full moon!
