Do you believe?

Perhaps you're wondering, "Do I believe, what?"

Well, I guess that begs the question, what do you believe? Do you believe in yourself? Do you believe media? Do you believe what your parents believed? Do you believe that we are alone in the universe? Do you believe science? Do you believe in miracles? Do you believe that you get what you deserve? Has what you've believed, changed? There is such depth to this very simple question, but the consensus seems to be that you must believe in something.

"If you don't believe in something, you'll fall for anything. I believe everything happens for a reason. If you are strong from within you can will anything. I'm a firm believer that where there's a will, there's a way" -- Eric Davis

“If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.”Alexander Hamilton

"When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything." -- G.K. Chesterton

"But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." -- James 1:6

There are those who are of the opinion that people who give credence to the Bible are ignorant: unread, unschooled, unenlightened, mindless believers. But God doesn't want ignorant believers, He expects people to test truth, and search for understanding. He expects us to do the research. He expects us to think.

"Clever people go after knowledge to obtain it, and wise people attune their ears to hear it." -- Proverbs 18:15

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." -- Romans 12:2

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." -- 1 John 4:1

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." -- Philippians 4:8

I believe in a loving God who cares about me because I have studied: scripture and other documents as well. He doesn't promise that life will be easy, in fact, He promises, "I have told you these things so you may have peace in Me. In the world you will have much trouble. But take hope! I have power over the world!” -- John 16:33. And like a doctor, who always needs to study and upgrade their knowledge, I continue to study, and sometimes, I even have a new revelation. This world is for learning. In the next world, we will know it all, and we might be surprised at what we discover.

If you believe in Jesus because your parents did, or if you don't believe because your parents didn't, and you have not investigated yourself, may I encourage you to check it out for yourself. Here are two books written by people who sought to refute Christianity, and instead, found enough evidence to believe in Jesus. If you have done a thorough investigation and have come to a different conclusion than me; well, thanks for studying. That's what God expects of us.
