Don't block the blessing

Do not quelch the Spirit. Fan into flame the gifts of God. 1 Thessalonians 5:19, 2 Timothy 1:6.

Don't be too proud to take what people want to give you. God gives everyone different gifts, He has a purpose for each of us and we need to work together for that greater purpose. Sure, some can go, but others can't. Giving allows them to participate in the Great Commission. If you don't take the money that God puts on their hearts to give, you're blocking the blessing that God has in store for them. You don't want to do that, do you? Unnatural Love

Ma-J is a woman blessed with the wisdom of Solomon. A spiritual leader in her community she was a God-ordained mother, though not biologically, to Joanie Brusseau. A new Christian, Joanie had so many questions and Ma-J always had a wise reflection.

Two things strike me about this, 1. listen to old people, they come with a lot of experience. I smile because I’m getting into that "old" category now. 2. Don't let pride get in the way. God may be using you to bring a blessing to someone, or build your character up so that others can see him in you.

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

God tells us that he will bless those who give. If we cut off an opportunity to either give or receive, we are in essence blocking a blessing from God. I'm with Ma-J, I don't want to do that. I know from experience God's blessings through both giving and receiving, and the abundant joy that follows in honouring God while sharing that experience with others.

So give, receive... and be blessed.
